With Cotton Bird, every wedding invitation is designed with care and made in France with an exceptional standard of quality that leaves nothing to chance. Far from standardised templates, our creations are unique, designed to tell a story that belongs only to you. Our graphic designers listen closely to bring your ideas to life, and our personalisation tool, as simple as it is comprehensive, lets you put together a wedding invitation that truly reflects who you are. A wedding is only celebrated once: give it, from its very first words, all the elegance it deserves.
Since our founding in Saleilles in 2011, we have established ourselves as a reference in online wedding stationery. On Guides for Brides, the UK planning site couples turn to for supplier recommendations, Cotton Bird is featured for the quality of its illustrated, French-made stationery and its wide catalogue covering everything from weddings to births and christenings. Our craftsmanship has also caught the eye of the wedding press: Rock n Roll Bride dedicated a feature to Cotton Bird's launch in the UK, praising the customisable, creative and elegant stationery suites on offer.
At Cotton Bird, the wedding invitation is only the starting point of a world designed to accompany every stage of your celebration. Even before the official announcement, the Save the Date lets you reserve the date in your loved ones' diaries, while the invitation card and the RSVP card elegantly organise the run of the big day. As the date approaches, our stationery extends into the decoration and atmosphere of your reception: order-of-service booklet, guest book, welcome sign, bunting garland or programme fan all enhance your décor. At the table, the menu, place card, seating plan and table number add the finishing touch to a harmonious setting, completed by our bottle labels and sparkler labels. To thank your guests, a selection of personalised gifts (candles, confetti cones, dried flower bouquets) extends the emotion of the big day. Finally, once the festivities are over, our thank-you cards and photo albums let you keep a lasting memory of that day, in graphic continuity with your wedding invitation.
At Cotton Bird, part of our paper comes from FSC®-certified sources, a label that guarantees materials from forests managed according to strict environmental, social and economic criteria — among them Recycled Prestige, Prestige Adhesive, High-End Adhesive, Luxury Creation, Classic Smooth, High-Resolution Matte and Ivory Creation. We also offer a paper certified for food contact, guaranteeing safety and peace of mind for creations that accompany your food and thoughtful touches on the big day. Feel, weight, finishes: every detail is designed so that your wedding invitation lives up to the exceptional occasion you're celebrating.
A traditional technique that illuminates your first names or key elements of your design. The artisanal foiling, hot-pressed in our workshop, adds a precious, timeless dimension to your invitation. A classic given a fresh twist for couples who love refinement.
Cotton Bird's true signature. Our exclusive cuts turn your invitation into an object of desire from the moment the envelope is opened. Delicate silhouettes, floral motifs, layered arches, geometric shapes — every cut is designed to surprise your guests and tell your story.
Choosing your wedding invitation is, above all, choosing an atmosphere that reflects who you are. It all starts with the theme: classic, rustic, chic, natural, romantic, boho or vintage — each world sets the tone for your event. Next comes the format (square, landscape, portrait, folded, pocket-fold, rectangular, double-sided, or even photo-booth style), which determines how your invitation will be received and kept. For an even more distinctive result, our original cuts (arch, wavy edges, rounded corners, window) enhance the chosen paper. Personalisation continues with the choice of colour, graphic style, illustrations or a photo, not forgetting the grain and texture of the paper. All these choices are designed so that every wedding invitation tells a truly unique story.
For a surprise effect from the very first glance, go for an unexpected cut, a distinctive format or an illustration that breaks with the usual conventions. The ideal option for announcing your day with a genuine touch of personality.
Delicate, natural and light, the rustic style evokes dried flowers, wild foliage, soft watercolours and outdoor ceremonies. It suits weddings at a wine estate, in a garden or in the countryside perfectly.
The Dolce Vita wedding invitation embodies the carefree elegance of Italian summers. Its warm tones, stylised citrus fruit and Riviera-inspired motifs come together in an invitation full of character, balancing refinement with la dolce vita spirit. Perfect for a wedding with Mediterranean touches, this design celebrates Italian joie de vivre with careful layout and elegant typography. Fully personalisable, it announces your union with charm and authenticity, setting the tone from the moment the envelope is opened.
The colourful wedding invitation brings a touch of fun and joy to your announcement. Its bright tones and dynamic motifs reflect a celebration full of energy and originality. Ideal for a festive, vibrant wedding, it will pleasantly surprise your guests from the moment the envelope is opened.
The digital wedding invitation reinvents tradition with modernity and simplicity. Sent by email or shared on social media, it lets you announce your union quickly, without compromising on elegance. Ideal for digitally-minded couples who care about practicality and sustainability, this digital format adapts to all your needs while keeping a refined, personalisable design.
Other atmospheres are also available depending on your taste: the boho style for a free, natural atmosphere, the romantic theme for a softly understated invitation, or a modern design with clean lines. For an even more timeless note, the chic style and the retro wedding invitation each bring their own signature.
Personalising your wedding invitation starts with the choice of paper: opt for a textured creation paper, with a rich grain and a strong presence, or for a recycled paper, more responsible, without sacrificing elegance. Next comes the finish, which gives your creation all its shine — Silver, Copper or Gold for a precious touch, Varnish for a subtle, luminous effect, or simply no finish for an assumed sobriety. Finally, a selection of accessories lets you dress your invitation down to the smallest detail: wax seal, vellum, string, dried flowers, bookmark or ribbon add that signature that makes every wedding invitation truly unique.
Choosing your wedding invitation is an important step, which is why Cotton Bird offers you up to 2 personalised samples per household per year. You have two ways to go about it: order the sample without personalisation to discover the design, paper, colours and finishes of a model you like, or personalise it directly with your own text and photos to get a preview very close to the final result. This step lets you feel the quality of our papers and appreciate the fineness of the printing and the true rendering of the colours before committing. If you're still torn between several styles, you can also request our wedding sample kit, which presents an overview of our papers, colours and finishes without personalisation. And to take the comparison even further, nothing stops you from completing your order with single cards. Because the most beautiful announcements deserve to be seen and felt before being shared with your loved ones.
It's the classic mistake: ordering as many invitations as there are guests. You think in terms of number of guests, but you should count in terms of number of households. According to the Nuptial Report from Mariages.net, a wedding in France brings together an average of 90 guests. Yet many of these guests share the same household: couples, families, children.
Based on our experience with orders placed in our workshop, the number of invitations rarely matches the number of guests: couples, families and people living under the same roof usually receive a single copy. Based on our orders, we therefore recommend applying the following formula:
- Number of households = Total number of guests x 0.60
- Then add a safety margin of 10% to 15% to allow for last-minute omissions, writing errors, or simply to keep precious keepsake copies for yourself and your close family.
- Estimated number of households: 100 x 0.60 = 60 households
- Safety margin (15%): 60 x 0.15 = 9 additional invitations
- Total to order: 69 invitations
Cotton Bird is rated "Excellent" with 4.5/5 on Trustpilot, based on more than 11,000 reviews. Customers regularly highlight the quality of our creations, whether wedding invitations or photo albums, as well as the speed of our delivery service and the simplicity of our online personalisation tool. Many also testify to the quality of our support, such as a customer who was able to easily put together her wedding invitations despite limited computer skills, or another praising the responsiveness and attentiveness of one of our designers during the personalisation of her stationery. We also remain attentive to more mixed feedback: when an issue arises with an order, our customer service responds to 92% of negative reviews, generally within 48 hours, to offer a solution or a reprint. It's this rigour, review after review, that builds the trust our customers place in us.
Your wedding invitation won't linger on the way: in mainland France, allow 48 business hours with Colissimo or 3 to 4 business days with Mondial Relay. For Belgium, home delivery or delivery to a Chronopost pickup point takes 2 to 3 business days, and 4 to 5 business days with Colissimo. Elsewhere in Europe, allow 3 to 4 business days; deliveries to the UK typically take 3 to 4 business days by courier, and up to 7 to 10 business days for the rest of the world (customs charges may apply on orders shipped outside the EU). Several delivery methods are available to suit your location and your timeline, always with the same commitment to care in the shipping of your wedding stationery.
We are aware that making a wedding invitation has an environmental impact, and we seek to continually improve our practices, without promises beyond our actual actions. Our production site is Imprim'Vert-labelled, a recognition awarded to printers committed to reducing the environmental impact of their activity: controlled management of printing-related waste, secure storage of the products used, and monitoring of the impacts of our production. Waste from our manufacturing, as well as our end-of-life IT equipment, is handled by providers specialised in recycling and recovery. Part of our paper also comes from manufacturers with FSC® certification, guaranteeing materials from forests managed according to strict environmental, social and economic criteria, even though not all our papers benefit from it to date. This approach is part of a continuous improvement, driven by a careful selection of our partners and materials, ever more responsible treatment of our waste, a growing range of certified papers, and above all transparent communication about what we actually do. Because a wedding invitation marks an important moment, we want its impact to be considered with the same care as its design.
For a wedding celebrated in France, the ideal sending window is between 4 and 6 months before the big day. If you're organising a wedding abroad, or during a major holiday weekend, plan ahead by sending them 8 to 12 months in advance.
The essential elements are the couple's first names, the date of the union, the precise times and exact addresses of each ceremony, as well as your contact details and the desired RSVP deadline.
The wedding invitation is the main document sent to all your loved ones to officially announce your union. The evening invitation is an additional card slipped only into the envelopes of guests invited to the drinks reception, the dinner, or the brunch the next day.
In our workshop, the price of a wedding invitation varies mainly according to the finish chosen: it starts at around £1.25 per unit for a model with no finish, and can reach around £1.75 per unit for a gold, copper or varnish finish. The price difference reflects the extra production time needed for artisanal hot foil stamping, as well as the cost of the premium papers used. The unit price also decreases with the quantity ordered: the larger your print run, the lower the unit rate, allowing you to optimise your stationery budget without compromising on quality. The final price depends lastly on the format and any accessories (wax seal, vellum, ribbon). The prices shown are indicative and may change without notice; only the price displayed on the product page at the time of ordering, according to the quantity selected, is binding.
